About the role

EY’s Financial Services Organization (FSO) is dedicated to serving the global financial services marketplace. As part of our Business Tax Advisory practice, you will focus on US Tax – Information Reporting & Withholding, working on challenging engagements across all financial services sectors. You will collaborate with colleagues to deliver advice and support on mission-critical operational tax issues and customer reporting matters, helping clients implement changes to their operations, processes, and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical IRW-specific work, including interpreting IRS Code and Treasury Regulations and drafting technical guidance to support information reporting and withholding requirements.
  • Conduct detailed tax technical analysis to support client positions and regulatory interpretations specific to IRW matters.
  • Contribute to the execution of processes, solutions, and projects, applying judgment to inform recommendations.
  • Define and execute deliverables, track project status, and maintain engagement economics.
  • Travel may be required to meet client needs; participate in client working sessions, often serving as a workstream member or team lead.
  • Develop project management skills, support resource planning, and assist in RFP responses.
  • Build strong client relationships and identify additional service opportunities.
  • Make decisions based on broad policies, applying personal knowledge and experience to resolve issues.
  • Implement procedures and guidelines, often working on complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Provide general guidance to others newer to the role or at a lower level, with limited supervision on day-to-day work and more direct supervision on new or non-recurring assignments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (4-year degree).
  • Typically, no less than 2–4 years of relevant tax, consulting, or tax operational experience.
  • Licensed attorney or CPA preferred.
  • Active participation in industry groups such as SIFMA or ABA is a plus.
  • Ability to understand and implement tax rules.
  • Demonstrated interest in tax information reporting and withholding work in Chapter 3, Chapter 4, and Chapter 61.
  • Experience in a client-facing, billable role within a professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with local and global regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Experience supporting resource planning and budget tracking.

Pay

The base salary range for this job in all US geographic locations is $81,500 to $178,300. The base salary range for the New York City Metro Area, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento) is $116,700 to $202,600. Individual salaries within these ranges are determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.

Schedule

This role follows a team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model, with an expectation of working in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project, or year.
