About the role

This position provides advanced specialized technical expertise for implementing federal and state financial requirements for USDA Child Nutrition Program (CNP) sponsors. The role includes recommendations for integrating financial management processes into all Child Nutrition programs administered by the Nutrition Program Services (NPS) division.

The incumbent will facilitate financial and procurement activities, including training sponsors, reviewing budgets and management plans, and completing financial and procurement reviews. They will review federal and state procurement requirements, assess current CNP procurement practices to identify opportunities and gaps, and coordinate activities with program staff and business operations teams to implement financial and procurement review tools and processes.

This position is eligible for hybrid telework. Employees living within 50 miles of the Minneapolis office must work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. Employees may reside outside Minnesota if they live in a bordering state and are within 50 miles of the primary work location. Existing employees approved to telework from a bordering state and more than 50 miles from their work location before June 1, 2025, may retain this arrangement unless they move farther away.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical expertise for federal and state financial requirements for USDA Child Nutrition Program sponsors
  • Recommend and integrate financial management processes into Child Nutrition programs
  • Facilitate financial and procurement activities, including training sponsors and reviewing budgets and management plans
  • Complete financial and procurement reviews
  • Review federal and state procurement requirements and assess current CNP procurement practices
  • Identify opportunities and gaps in procurement practices
  • Coordinate with program staff and business operations teams to implement financial and procurement review tools and processes
  • Perform other relevant related work as assigned

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in business analysis and financial operations, including financial transactions, with working knowledge of 2 CFR 200 and accounting principles
  • Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; Associate’s degree may substitute for six months of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with USDA School Nutrition Program regulations
  • Data analysis experience to interpret procurement and financial management processes in child nutrition programs
  • Business administration experience in coordinating financial management, procurement, and contract activities

Pay

$28.75 - $42.16 per hour
$60,030 - $88,030 annually
