Financial Reporting Accountant (Hybrid)

PURPOSE

The Financial Reporting Accountant prepares the company's audited year-end GAAP and STAT statements, quarterly/annual regulatory filings, and performs technical accounting research.

Essential Functions

• Aid in the monthly consolidation process and creation of financial statements including balance sheet, P&L, and cash flow statements.
• Prepare various income statements, graphs, and other product and market segment financials for internal distribution.
• Assist in the preparation and compilation of quarterly finance committee packages and supporting schedules.
• Perform statutory accounting adjustments to convert GAAP ledger to a statutory basis, prepare supporting documentation, and analyze required adjustments.
• Prepare monthly GAAP investment accounting entries, journal entries for quarterly mark to market, convertibles, and other-than-temporarily impaired investments, and post cash transactions, bond/stock acquisitions, and dispositions.
• Prepare various ad hoc analysis and reports in support of analyzing Schedule D and investment reporting requirements.
• On a quarterly basis, prepare all STAT investment accounting journal entries and the annual GAAP & STAT Notes to financial statements.
• Prepare the annual risk-based capital (RBC) filing to NAIC and all reporting submissions to BCBSA.
• Prepare pension/401k plans financial statements and notes to financial statements.
• Research and resolve moderately complex accounting issues.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field OR 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
• Licenses/Certifications: Preferred Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
• Experience: 3 years public accounting or corporate financial experience and CPA eligible.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills (written and verbal), strong PC and financial systems skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, ability to train team members, and effective communication and customer service skills.

Salary Range

$64,080 - $127,270
