About the role

This position prepares monthly accounts receivable valuations, assists with the annual operating and capital budget, and supports the Manager of Financial Planning and the Director of Budget & Reimbursement in third-party analysis and the preparation of internal and external reports, cost reports, and CFRs. The role also provides decision support and data to department managers, finance professionals, and executives as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly and annual allowance calculations for hospitals and nursing homes.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of multiple monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare special analysis and reports on an as-needed basis.
  • Prepare surveys and reports for external agencies.
  • Gather data for Annual Medicare & Medicaid Cost Reports.
  • Aid in the preparation of the hospital’s annual financial, ICR audit, and DOH DSH audits.
  • Prepare facility annual cost reports, CFRs, annual Tricare (Champus) filings, annual DOH capital budgets, and 3-year occupational mix data.
  • Research and ensure compliance with cost reporting requirements.
  • Perform other duties as required to meet departmental needs.
  • Assist in the annual budget process and prepare data for CON requests as needed.
  • Gather, compile, and analyze case mix data monthly to establish operational and reimbursement trends.
  • Collect monthly statistical data.
  • Lead the setup and maintenance of a data analytical system to support timely data requests from department managers, finance, and executives, and run reports as needed.
  • Develop, compile, and analyze reports related to various reimbursement methodologies and other reimbursement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (accounting or finance preferred).
  • 3+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Access experience preferred).
  • Ability to identify, gather, and compile pertinent information for detailed financial, statistical, and narrative reports.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to perform analytical reviews.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of professional, administrative, technical, and clerical personnel.
  • Proficiency in using spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email, and database software.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Sound judgment, resourcefulness, initiative, and tact.
  • Physical condition commensurate with the requirements of the position.
