About the role
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory Financial Services is seeking an experienced Finance Professional to join the General Accounting team. The role will help lead the Projects module in Oracle Fusion Cloud and serve as an accountant responsible for other functions of the organization, focusing on M&S transactional activities. The selected candidate will interface with Financial Services team members and other NNL departments, analyze general ledger accounts, support monthly and year-end closing activities, and prepare reports for management and Government.
Responsibilities
- Perform financial functions providing accounting services for the organization.
- Establish, administer, and audit controls and procedures to validate accuracy of account balances and financial statements, ensuring compliance with Corporate and Government policies.
- Identify problems and improvement opportunities, develop and recommend alternatives, and implement solutions to ensure the integrity and effectiveness of financial operations.
- Analyze general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Proficiently use financial systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion Cloud) to perform job requirements.
- Support periodic testing of upgrades and new features of the Oracle system.
- Execute monthly and fiscal year-end closing activities.
- Prepare periodic reports and analyses for NNL and Government management.
- Review and test financial controls and provide verification in support of government requirements.
- Maintain process documentation to facilitate effective accounting operations.
- Consult with company personnel on financial guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Interface with other NNL departments to coordinate data and deliverable requirements.
- Interface with company and Government auditors to facilitate audit performance and resolution.
Requirements
Required combination of knowledge and skill:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting.
- Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud.
- Current or previous accounting experience.

Pay
Pay Range: $78,700.00 - $120,500.00 annually. Salary is based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP). All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
