Position Summary
Financial Education Interns support financial literacy opportunities and help represent the Credit Union and affiliate brands through relatable, inclusive, and accessible education. The MSUFCU Internship Program supports career readiness competencies as defined by NACE.
About the Role
Interns assist with identifying knowledge gaps and concepts to consider and creating financial education content. They also research, evaluate, design, develop, and compose accessible content for diverse audiences, attend financial literacy and community events, and participate in department meetings and professional development trainings.
Responsibilities
- Understand and adhere to Credit Union policies and procedures.
- Assist with department programs and projects.
- Research, evaluate, design, develop, and compose accessible content (blogs, scripts, quizzes, videos, podcasts, modules, etc.) for diverse audiences.
- Attend financial literacy and community events within local communities.
- Identify new content and formatting ideas and needs.
- Help maintain results and data from financial education programs and projects.
- Seek professional development opportunities and stay updated on financial trends impacting financial literacy content.
Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- Actively pursuing Associate or Bachelor degree with a preference for areas of marketing, communications, journalism, education, graphic design, business, or related major.
- 1-2 years of previous work experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to commute to events in Lansing, East Lansing, and surrounding communities.
- Demonstrates empathy and a commitment to providing superior member service.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with a desired proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and GoAnimate.
- Seeks continuous learning and improvement through feedback and other means.
- Self-starter and works successfully in a team-oriented environment.
- Open to change and to considerable variety in the workplace.
- High level of both written and oral communication skills, along with ability to present information effectively to staff and members.

Job Requirements
- Physical Demands and Work Environment: Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment, and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage. Occasionally moves equipment or materials weighing up to 25 pounds for financial education and community needs. May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time. This position can work in hybrid or onsite working arrangements.
