About the role
The Gesher Human Services Financial Education Coach assists individuals in developing a stronger understanding of basic financial concepts through seminars, workshops, and one-on-one meetings.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the scheduling and delivery of seminar style training programs at Gesher and the community.
- Engage and work with community partners to enhance presentations and provide additional resources.
- Respond to client inquiries regarding financial/credit management using HUD’s Housing Counseling Rules and Regulations.
- Schedule individual sessions with clients to address specific issues.
- Refer clients to appropriate community agencies with expertise as needed.
- Participate in community outreach activities such as presentations and fairs.
- Build referral sources by networking with lenders, realtors, and other professionals.
- Provide intensive specialized services for clients with serious credit repair issues or impending home foreclosures.
- Document performance and deliver services by providing reports and maintaining client records.
- Participate on agency committees as appointed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ experience working with first-time homebuyers and credit-impaired individuals, or training in housing counseling.
- HUD Certified Housing Counselor preferred (must be secured within six months of employment).
- Experience with federal and state foreclosure programs and loan modifications.
- Experience obtaining and explaining credit reports and financial information to clients.
- Experience in repairing clients' credit to make them mortgage-ready.
- Excellent group presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based databases.
Qualifications
- Excellent composition skills for preparing financial capability classes and status reports.
- Intermediate proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and web-based databases.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a variety of settings, including homebuyer education and financial education trainings.
- Knowledge of HUD’s Housing Counseling Rules and Regulations.
