Financial Crimes - Transaction Monitoring Specialist, Assistant Vice President
for section headings: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. However we need to map content.
We need to include sections only when posting has real specific content. We have:
- About the role: maybe the introductory paragraph about MUFG and the role? Could be "About the role" heading with description.
- Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities section.
- Requirements: Required Qualifications.
- Qualifications: maybe Preferred Qualifications? Or we could combine? The instruction says use headings like About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Skills. Actually they list: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. So we need to decide which content goes where.
We have:
- About the role: introductory paragraph about MUFG and the role.
- Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities.
- Requirements: Required Qualifications.
- Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications? Or maybe "Qualifications" includes both required and preferred? But they separate Requirements and Qualifications. Usually Requirements = required qualifications, Qualifications = preferred qualifications. We'll follow that.
- Skills: Technical Skills and Competencies? Could combine technical skills and competencies under Skills.
- Benefits: Benefits description.
- Pay: Pay range.
- Schedule: hybrid schedule.
We must not include sections with filler like "commensurate with experience". We have actual pay range and schedule.
We must remove boilerplate: EEO, legal, etc. Also remove application instructions, navigation, cookie, etc. Also remove the duplicated lines? There's a line: "A member of our recruitment team will provide more details." That's minor metadata; we can fold into short p or drop. Probably we can include as a short p under About the role? Or drop.
We need to preserve all substantive information. So we need to keep the description of MUFG, job summary, responsibilities, required qualifications, preferred qualifications, competencies, benefits, pay, schedule.
We must not invent or summarize away detail. So we need to keep the bullet points etc. Use - for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. For prose use
.
We need to output only HTML fragment, no /, no markdown.
Let's structure:
About the role

The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and work remotely one day. A member of our recruitment team will provide more details.
But we might want to separate schedule later. However schedule is a specific piece; we could keep it in About the role or later under Schedule. The instruction: include a section ONLY when posting has real, specific content for it. Schedule is specific: four days office, one day remote. So we should have a Schedule section. So we can move that sentence to Schedule section.
Thus About the role: the introductory paragraph up to "Join MUFG, where being inspired is expected and making a meaningful impact is rewarded." Then we can have a separate Schedule section.
Job Summary: maybe we can incorporate into About the role or separate? There's a "Job Summary" heading in the posting. We could treat that as part of About the role or maybe as a separate section? The instruction only lists certain headings; we can choose to not use Job Summary heading, but we need to preserve its content. We can incorporate that paragraph into About the role or Responsibilities? The Job Summary describes reporting line and role purpose. Could go under About the role as well.
Thus About the role paragraph: combine the introductory marketing plus Job Summary.
Let's craft:

Reporting to a Team Manager within the Director, DTO Americas organization, this newly created role has been established to support the continued development of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Transaction Monitoring capabilities across MUFG. As a key member of the Global Financial Crimes Division Operations function, the Senior AML Transaction Monitoring Specialist will be responsible for identifying and developing financial crime detection scenarios, providing advanced analytics support for transaction monitoring optimization efforts, and coordinating the implementation of monitoring models designed to detect suspicious activity. This role will partner with regional and global stakeholders to enhance transaction monitoring effectiveness, strengthen financial crime controls, and drive a globally consistent approach to risk mitigation.
That seems good.
Now Responsibilities: we have bullet points under Key Responsibilities with subheadings: Transaction Monitoring & Scenario Development, Data Analytics & Model Optimization, Program Implementation & Governance, Cross-Functional Collaboration. Each has multiple sentences. We need to output as - for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. Should we treat each bullet as a list item? The content includes multiple sentences per bullet. We can make each top-level bullet as
- containing the sentences. Could also break further but not needed.
Thus:
Responsibilities
- Transaction Monitoring & Scenario Development: Design, develop, and enhance AML transaction monitoring scenarios and detection strategies. Perform quantitative analysis to support scenario tuning, calibration, optimization, and customer segmentation initiatives. Evaluate transaction monitoring model performance and recommend enhancements to improve alert quality and effectiveness. Support large-scale strategic optimization and segmentation programs across the Global Financial Crimes Division.
- Data Analytics & Model Optimization: Conduct detailed analysis of customer, account, KYC, and transactional data to identify trends, patterns, and emerging risks. Develop and maintain analytical models supporting transaction monitoring and screening programs. Perform scenario threshold testing, segmentation analysis, and model calibration activities. Execute above-the-line (ATL), below-the-line (BTL), and what-if analytics testing methodologies.
- Program Implementation & Governance: Coordinate with regional and global teams to implement transaction monitoring scenarios and model enhancements. Collaborate with Compliance, Financial Crimes, Risk Management, Technology, and Operations teams to ensure effective program execution. Support governance efforts and documentation associated with transaction monitoring model development and implementation. Assist leadership in driving continuous improvements across AML monitoring capabilities and financial crime risk management frameworks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders across GFCD and business units to establish clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and operational processes. Support regulatory examinations, audits, and program reviews related to transaction monitoring effectiveness. Contribute to strategic initiatives that enhance enterprise-wide financial crime detection capabilities.
Now Requirements: Required Qualifications.
We have Education, Experience, Technical Skills, Regulatory Knowledge. Could break into sublists? But we can just list each as - containing the sentences.
Thus:
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Quantitative Analysis, Computer Science, Data Science, Technology Sciences, or a related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience designing, analyzing, testing, validating, or optimizing BSA/AML transaction monitoring models and/or OFAC sanctions screening models. Experience implementing, testing, or evaluating financial crime compliance systems. Strong understanding of AML data, including customer, account, KYC, and transactional datasets. Experience developing model tuning, calibration, segmentation, and optimization methodologies.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with one or more programming languages or analytical platforms: SQL, Python, SAS, R. Familiarity with transaction monitoring platforms such as Actimize SAM. Strong quantitative and statistical analysis skills, including: Classification accuracy testing, Name matching methodologies, Fuzzy logic matching, Decision trees, Machine learning techniques, Neural networks, Unsupervised and supervised modeling approaches.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of: Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, OFAC sanctions requirements, USA PATRIOT Act, FinCEN guidance, FATF recommendations, OCC, FRB, and SEC regulatory expectations.
Now Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications.
We have bullet list: Experience interfacing directly with banking regulators, examiners, and enforcement agencies. Strong understanding of financial crime risk management frameworks. Experience supporting enterprise-wide transaction monitoring modernization or optimization initiatives. Knowledge of banking products, services, and transaction processing systems.
Thus:
Qualifications
- Experience interfacing directly with banking regulators, examiners, and enforcement agencies.
- Strong understanding of financial crime risk management frameworks.
- Experience supporting enterprise-wide transaction monitoring modernization or optimization initiatives.
- Knowledge of banking products, services, and transaction processing systems.
Now Skills: Could include Competencies and maybe also Technical Skills? But we already used Technical Skills under Requirements. The instruction says Skills heading; we could put Competencies there. Or we could combine Technical Skills and Competencies under Skills. However we already used Technical Skills under Requirements; maybe better to move Technical Skills to Skills heading and keep Requirements only for Education and Experience. But the instruction says we can choose headings; we need to include sections only when posting has real specific content. We have content for Technical Skills and Competencies. Could make a Skills section that includes both technical skills and competencies.
Let's restructure:
- Requirements: Education and Experience only.
- Skills: Technical Skills and Competencies.
Thus:
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Quantitative Analysis, Computer Science, Data Science, Technology Sciences, or a related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
