Financial Counselor Senior

About the role

As a Senior Financial Counselor you will administer a variety of financial assistance programs—including Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility, medical disability, long‑term care applications, and Hospital Financial Assistance—while performing detailed financial screenings to direct patients to the appropriate programs. You will counsel patients on private and public medical benefits, verify insurance coverage, explain financial requirements, and collect outstanding patient portions at or before the point of service. The role also includes mentoring new associates, assisting with new employee orientation, and collaborating with executives on payment plan approvals.

Responsibilities

• Administer financial assistance programs such as Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility, medical disability, long‑term care applications, and Hospital Financial Assistance.
• Perform financial screenings to determine patient eligibility for assistance programs.
• Counsel patients on private and public medical benefits, verify insurance benefits, explain financial requirements, and collect outstanding patient portions.
• Mentor new associates and assist in new employee orientation.
• Screen patients for eligibility into Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility, Charity Program, or Foundation Programs and make eligibility determinations.
• Interact with executives and leadership to obtain approval for payment plans or settlements.
• Collaborate with Patient Representatives to research and resolve billing‑related patient complaints.
• Collect patient portions as applicable.
• Maintain effective communication with physicians and staff through meetings and telephone contact to ensure proper program implementation.
• Promote and help maintain a positive, professional, team‑oriented, service‑conscious environment that reflects the values of the system.

Requirements

• Required: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Required: Knowledge of ICD‑10 and CPT coding and medical terminology.
• Preferred: One (1) year of health‑care experience.
• Preferred: Knowledge of registration, billing, and credit scoring.

The new 16,000‑square‑foot Weber Campus in Roy offers emergency care, radiology, mammography, and 24/7 laboratory services. The campus is conveniently located for patients in Ogden, Roy, and neighborhoods west of I‑15, and is minutes from Hill Air Force Base, providing easy access to Ogden, Salt Lake City, Antelope Island State Park, and a variety of outdoor activities.

Pay

$18.51 – $26.15 per hour
