Financial Counselor - RCO Financial Clearance

Educations & Experience

• Minimum Qualifications: One year of related experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of indigent care and charity assistance programs, including eligibility requirements and enrollment processes; Experience conducting financial screenings for patients; Experience utilizing a customer relationship management (CRM) system or electronic in-basket workflows in a healthcare or administrative setting.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks

• Gathers all patient demographic data required in the Hospital Information System computer system during patient interview.
• Screens patient for financial responsibility by using the uniform financial screening document.
• Verifies patient information by obtaining copies of proofs of residency, income, and third-party carriers.
• Determines potential reimbursement sources available to the patient and directs them to these sources.
• Determines the proper pay classification of the patient.
• Calculates patient's charges for office visit and collects payment.
• Counsels with patients about unpaid bills.
• Researches invalid charge slips and creates appropriate account for billing.
• Creates a patient folder for appropriate paperwork.
• Adheres to internal controls established for department.
• Performs related duties as required.

Standard office environment and equipment.

Salary Range

Actual salary commensurate with experience.

Work Schedule

On-site, Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM.
