Key Responsibilities
- Audit patient-specific financial barriers related to medications, medical supplies, and treatment plans.
- Provide guidance on co-pays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket expenses.
- Support patients in understanding their financial responsibilities and available options.
- Review and verify insurance benefits related to prescribed therapies and services.
- Identify and address coverage limitations, formulary restrictions, and prior authorization requirements.
- Collaborate with payers, pharmacies, and providers to resolve access issues impacting patient care.
- Identify appropriate financial assistance resources, including manufacturer programs, grants, and other support mechanisms.
- Facilitate patient enrollment into assistance programs and monitor progress through completion.
- Maintain awareness of available financial resources and eligibility criteria.
- Document all patient interactions, interventions, and outcomes in the designated system(s).
- Track financial interventions and resolution outcomes to support operational visibility.
- Identify recurring barriers and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Understanding of financial assistance relating to drug (pharmacy/medical channels) and how to problem solve for financial assistance via multiple channels is required.
- Experience in healthcare financial counseling, patient access, case management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of insurance benefits, reimbursement processes, and medication access pathways.
- Familiarity with financial assistance programs and patient support resources.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary care team.
