Financial Counselor - Clearance

Responsibilities

• Calls patients to gain financial information, create and quote estimates, determine financial status and ability to pay.
• Informs the patient and family of all the possible payment options that apply to their account.
• Collects on the estimated balances prior to the time of service.
• Acts as a resource for scheduling self-pay patients, quoting test prices, quoting special order DME.
• Discusses previous open unpaid balances and bad debt with patients, from warm transferred calls prior to scheduling, making payment arrangements or referring them to the agency prior to scheduling testing.
• Identifies patients who have large out of pocket amounts and works with them to make arrangements for payment prior to new services being rendered.

Requirements

• EPIC experience is required.
• A high school diploma is required.
• A bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Bilingual is highly desired.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• 2 - 5 years previous collection and hospital experience.
