Responsibilities
- Calls patients to gain financial information, create and quote estimates, determine financial status and ability to pay.
- Informs the patient and family of all the possible payment options that apply to their account.
- Collects on the estimated balances prior to the time of service.
- Acts as a resource for scheduling self-pay patients, quoting test prices, quoting special order DME.
- Discusses previous open unpaid balances and bad debt with patients, from warm transferred calls prior to scheduling, making payment arrangements or referring them to the agency prior to scheduling testing.
- Identifies patients who have large out of pocket amounts and works with them to make arrangements for payment prior to new services being rendered.
Requirements
- EPIC experience is required.
- A high school diploma is required.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Bilingual is highly desired.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- 2 - 5 years previous collection and hospital experience.
