Responsibilities

• Maintains and processes all assigned patient accounts and counsels patients regarding the admitting and discharging processes and payment alternatives.
• Counsels patients (or responsible parties) to establish payment method.
• Contacts patients, in advance of admission, to obtain missing information and patient's signature for accepting obligation to pay.
• Provides accurate estimates and collects patient deductible, co-pays and non-covered patient charge amounts, including self-pay monies in advance, upon entry, or at discharge according to circumstances.
• In cases where patient is unable to pay self-pay portion due upon discharge, ensures that a mutually agreed upon payment agreement is documented and signed by all parties, in compliance with established guidelines and procedures.
• Maintains and balances cash drawer.
• Prepares daily cash report and Deposit Reconciliation.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of business or related experience including bookkeeping with use of calculating equipment and collection of monies.
• Hospital or medical business office experience is preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology is preferred.

Twin County Regional Healthcare (TCRH) is located in Galax, Virginia, which is in the center of the Twin Counties of Grayson and Carroll in Southwest Virginia. TCRH is a 141-bed facility that includes acute care, ambulatory care and emergency services. TCRH is considered a rural hospital that serves a large Medicare population, as well as, a total population of approximately 60,000. We operate within a 100-mile radius.
