Financial Counselor
About the role
Join our team at South Sound Behavioral Hospital as a Financial Counselor. You will play a crucial role in verifying benefits and eligibility on admission inquiries, preparing admission folders, collecting co-pays/deductibles from patients, assisting with payment plans, and coordinating with utilization review and discharge planning efforts.
Responsibilities
- Accurately verify benefits and eligibility on admission inquiries
- Prepare admission folders
- Collect co-pays/deductibles from patients
- Aid in establishing effective and timely payment plans
- Congratulate utilization review and discharge planning efforts to minimize risk of non-payment
- Provide ongoing patient benefit information
- Participate in patient discharge procedures
- Congratulate financial arrangements with collection personnel
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- One (1) year’s experience in admission processes and collections procedures
- A working knowledge of managed care, insurance coverage plans, co-payments, and deductible schedules, and payment plans
- A working knowledge of computers and business software programs (Excel)
- Occasional overtime and flexible hours may be required
Qualifications
Education & Licensure: High School graduate or equivalent required
Additional Requirements: May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours
Skills
Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and proficiency with computers and business software programs (Excel).

This is a full-time position with an expected compensation range of $23.00 - $26.00 hourly + monthly bonus opportunity.
