About the Role
Responsible for accurate, timely, and complete documentation regarding insurance verification, billing, and collections.
Responsibilities
- Audit admission packets and verify benefits along with all patient demographic information in the patient accounting system.
- Provide financial counseling to patients and/or guarantors, collecting out-of-pocket expenses (deductibles, copays, exhausted days, etc.).
- Supply patients and/or guarantors with information about their benefits and financial obligations.
- Complete financial disclosure paperwork for patients requesting assistance, including verifying income and expenses.
- Complete adjustment forms for charity or administrative adjustments for approval.
- Prepare promissory notes for patients requesting payment arrangements.
- Update the upfront collection log, charity log, and admin adjustment log daily; review with BOD weekly.
- Gather and interpret data from the system to determine appropriate, time-sensitive actions for payment collection.
- Perform other assigned functions and tasks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three or more years of experience in a related field required.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of Commercial Insurance and Medicare/Medicaid required.
