Financial Counselor
About the role
This position is responsible for outstanding customer service in working with patients and/or responsible individuals to arrange methods of payment which include, but are not limited to obtaining payment, answering telephone or correspondence inquiries from patients relating to areas of coverage and payment of claims.
Responsible for providing assistance to the Patient Financial Services Department (PFS) with regard to incoming calls, inquiries, correspondence, patient collections, collection agency assignment, financial assistance applications, Medicaid financial assistance applications and other clerical duties.

- Obtaining payment from patients
- Answering telephone or correspondence inquiries from patients regarding areas of coverage and payment of claims
- Assisting with incoming calls, inquiries, correspondence, patient collections, collection agency assignment, financial assistance applications, Medicaid financial assistance applications and other clerical duties
Requirements
- Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
- General office skills including phones and keyboarding; computer skills, including data entry and 10-key; communication skills; ability to assess emergency situations and work well under pressure
Qualifications
Previous experience in medical office setting such as hospital admissions, billing, or medical office preferred

Pay
SEIU Pay Range: $25.29 to $37.96 Dependent on Experience
