About the role

R1 Financial Counseling Associates play a crucial role in helping uninsured and underinsured patients navigate the complexities of obtaining payment for their medical services. Your primary responsibility is to provide accurate and compassionate financial counseling to patients, explaining available funding sources and ensuring they understand their obligations.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial counseling to uninsured and underinsured patients to assist them in obtaining paying funding sources for their medical services.
• Accurately and compassionately explain financial options and obligations during direct patient sessions.
• Communicate complex coverage enrollment information with patients and assist with their applications.
• Gain and demonstrate a thorough understanding of Medicaid and other funding programs to provide clear and concise information to patients.
• Multi-task, use and navigate multiple systems, and maintain a high level of customer service and empathy.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Excellent customer service skills
• Compassionate communication

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a financial counselor with a background in medical terminology, understanding State and Federal assistance programs, or relevant healthcare experience is a plus.

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
