This is a fully remote, full-time position; candidates must be within driving distance of West Michigan. Schedule: day shift, 9:30 AM–6:00 PM. The first two weeks of EPIC training are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

About the role

Uses specialized knowledge to support key areas of the organization related to an area of expertise. Applies data, research analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to assist colleagues and leadership in achieving the organization’s strategic objectives. Serves as a peer influencer and may direct a project or project team by leveraging industry experience and specialized knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial clearance and insurance verification for all pre-service accounts prior to the date of service.
  • Obtain and verify accurate insurance information, validate benefits, secure authorizations, and collect pre-service payments.
  • Initiate the overall patient experience and begin the billing process for services provided by the hospital.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two to five years of experience in financial clearance, scheduling, or patient access.
  • National certification in HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one year of hire.
  • Proficiency in Patient Registration and Patient Accounting systems and related software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial clearance and insurance verification processes with at least two years of financial clearance experience in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of scheduling with mastery in three or more modalities and insurance verification processes, including three years of scheduling experience in an acute care setting.
  • Experience with complex facility-based ancillary testing across multiple facilities or states.
  • Strong knowledge of third-party and government payer billing and reimbursement guidelines, as well as department performance standards, policies, and procedures.
