We are seeking a dynamic, bilingual Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) Coordinator to lead and expand our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program across Greater Hartford, Enfield, Manchester, and Windham. Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and expansion of the annual VITA/EITC campaign.
  • Coordinate multiple tax preparation sites and ensure compliance with IRS Quality Site Requirements.
  • Recruit, support, and collaborate with volunteers, site coordinators, and community partners.
  • Track program performance and analyze data to guide real-time decision making.
  • Connect tax filers with broader financial coaching, asset-building, and supportive services through The Village's Financial Opportunity Center.
  • Partner with marketing and community organizations to increase awareness and participation.
  • Coordinate volunteer training and certification efforts.
  • Provide direct operational support during tax season, including site coverage as needed.
  • Manage program referrals, reporting requirements, and stakeholder communications.

Requirements

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Experience coordinating programs, projects, or community initiatives.
  • Cultural competency and a demonstrated commitment to working effectively with diverse populations.
  • Initiative-driven with strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of VITA, EITC, tax preparation programs, or financial empowerment services.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and community needs.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams and community partnerships.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and service excellence.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends during peak program periods.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Financial Services, Business, Social Services, or a related field preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience totaling at least four years will be considered.
  • Experience with VITA/EITC programs strongly preferred.
