Financial Analyst - part time

About the Role

Provides financial and statistical information to management, staff, and external customers in compliance with internal and external requirements by efficiently accessing the organization's financial and decision support systems and through effectively analyzing and verifying the inputs and outputs from those systems. Maintains financial records and systems in accordance with GAAP, Hospital policies, and the Healthcare Audit Guide.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing accurate, complete, and understandable financial information for timely distribution to internal and external users, including:
  • Inpatient, OBV, AO, and outpatient service line/business unit financial performance reports
  • Payer financial performance reports
  • Interpretation and presentation of decision support system data
  • Net revenue/reimbursement computations
  • Payer contract supporting computations
  • Budget proposals and development
  • Monthly actual/budget analysis
  • Business plans and look-back reviews
• Assists in annual operating budget preparation for hospitals and LVHS activities, as well as monthly actual/budget analysis under the direction of the Budget Manager.
• Maintains financial systems, decision support systems, and related systems supporting budgeting, financial analysis, net revenue, and reimbursement.
• Participates in applying software and hardware upgrades to financial systems as appropriate.
• Assists in the monthly financial statement close and preparation of monthly financial statements, including determination of net revenue, expense analysis, valuation of accounts receivable, and development of supporting documentation.
• Reports, budgets, projects, and forecasts volume utilization by program, physician, and clinical department as required.
• Serves as a resource to Finance management for ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
• Ensures all analyses and information provided to customers are prepared in a concise, easy-to-understand manner.
• Responds to customer inquiries ideally on the same day, but no later than the following day.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3 years of experience as an accountant, financial analyst, or equivalent.
• Experience in budgeting, capital project financial analysis, net revenue and reimbursement computations, decision support, and financial reporting is desirable.
• Knowledge of hospital and physician payment methodologies.
• Proficiency in personal computers operated in a Windows environment and ability to use various mainframe and PC-based software applications.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word is required.
• Ability to function cooperatively as part of the finance team and exhibit flexibility in response to changing demands and priorities.
• Effective written and oral communication skills, with the ability to tailor communications for department managers, other finance staff, and external audiences.
