About the Role

Partner with the CFO to identify and prioritize projects that will improve our business. Examples include streamlining month-end closing, improving cost allocations, enhancing accounting and business reporting processes, and reviewing data for trends and insights. This role requires the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, multitasked environment with a focus on customer service, quality work performance, and administration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop training materials, policies, and procedures to support improved processes.
  • Perform month-end reviews on key accounting/finance areas, such as construction projects and overhead accounts, for significant changes or metrics.
  • Partner with the CFO in the ERP implementation process to coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, timelines, and hold department leaders, ERP team members, and software providers accountable to the implementation process, objectives, and timeline.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation of key ERP decision points and considerations.
  • Identify data integrity issues and lead efforts to improve data quality and governance (e.g., customer, job, and employee data).
  • Coordinate ERP software provider training for internal trainers (train-the-trainer).
  • Evaluate ERP usage post-implementation, compare it to original objectives, identify gaps, and build plans to mitigate them (continuous improvement).
  • Drive continuous improvement with the ERP as a go-to resource for other departments, assisting them in using the system to make processes more efficient and effective.
  • Document or assist in documenting process changes, new policies, and procedures, and distribute documentation to users.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, demonstrating leadership of people and/or processes.
  • Process improvement mindset and a track record of successful project execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance strongly preferred; minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Existing project management experience preferred.
  • Core understanding of accounting, GAAP, and accounting process flows.
  • Public accounting experience and/or experience in FP&A and/or business analyst work is a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
  • Experience with Coins or Viewpoint Software.
  • Ability to think strategically, make sound decisions, and produce accurate and timely results.

Language Skills

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of employees, government agencies, customers, vendors, and suppliers.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, see, talk, and listen.
  • Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time but may require walking or standing for brief periods.
  • Operation of a computer, telephone, headphones, hand calculator, and copiers/fax machine is required.
  • Ability to understand simple math, financial reports, legal documents, simple memos, and business letters.
  • Ability to write or present simple memos, summaries, business letters, and formal presentations.
  • Occasional commuting to customers and company locations by land and air.
