Financial Analyst III

About the role

The Financial Analyst supports the Comptroller in administering and monitoring agency financial activities in compliance with state laws, regulations, and internal policies. This position performs advanced professional financial and budgetary analysis to support operational effectiveness, resource stewardship, strategic planning, and agency decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Comptroller in administering financial operations, including budget development, financial reporting, cash management, and fiscal oversight in accordance with state statutes and agency policy.
• Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Travel staff by assigning work, monitoring performance, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and supporting training and development.
• Manage and monitor carryover funds to ensure accurate accounting, allocation, utilization, and reporting aligned with legislative and agency requirements.
• Analyze financial data, expenditures, revenues, and budget trends to support forecasting, strategic planning, and executive-level decision-making.
• Prepare, review, and reconcile financial reports, budget schedules, and supporting documentation for internal leadership, oversight agencies, and external auditors.
• Conduct advanced financial and budgetary analysis to inform operational decisions and support agency program functions.
• Assist with year-end closing, including budget carryforward calculations, reconciliation processes, audit response preparation, and special financial projects as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field [official transcripts required upon hire].
• Two (2) years of experience in accounting, budgeting, financial analyst or fiscal operations.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
