Primary Duties and Responsibilities – Operating Budget
- Credits moderate to complex financial analysis projects using decision support systems, data warehouses or other data and analytical tools under limited supervision.
- Leads the development of annual volume and expense budgets for the assigned campus, including individual financial audits and communication with department leaders to determine appropriate budgets at a cost center level.
- Conducts monthly variance analysis and provides insights into financial and operational performance to department leaders.
- Identifies opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies, working closely with Accounting and other departments to ensure financial accuracy.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand impacts of operational changes on financial performance and aids in system-wide strategic project execution.
- Abstracts data from a number of decision support systems to complete financial projects, reviewing data for accuracy and reasonableness before presenting to management.
- Sums up analyses in professional documentation and communicates findings to decision support management.
- Performs moderate report writing and modification within the financial planning system.
- Led system training and education classes for operating partners on the use of financial planning tools.
- Aids in the monthly forecasting process, ensuring leadership is equipped with the most accurate projections based on available information.
Requirements
- Required: Bachelor's Degree preferably in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Public Health or Healthcare Administration or similar field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in decision support role or combination of experience and relevant advanced degree.
- Preferred: Master’s in Business Administration or Health Administration, designation as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), two years’ experience as a Senior Financial Analyst or Health Care Consultant, strong knowledge of and experience with databases using SQL or other advanced system languages, adept at creating and managing complex queries, knowledge of CPT/HCPCS codes or experience in charging or performing charging validation reviews.
