About the role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Optometric professional to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing essential vision care services and supporting patient eye health through comprehensive clinical and administrative duties.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preliminary eye function testing and vision screening
  • Assist optometrists with patient examinations and procedures
  • Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic diagnostic equipment
  • Educate patients on proper contact lens insertion, removal, and care
  • Measure and fit eyeglass frames and contact lenses according to prescriptions
  • Maintain accurate patient records and electronic health documentation
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care instructions for surgical patients
  • Manage inventory of optical supplies and prescription lenses

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited ophthalmic assistant or optician training program
  • Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Optician (ABO) preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in an optometric or ophthalmology practice
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records systems
  • Strong interpersonal and patient communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Current CPR/BLS certification

Skills

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
  • Knowledge of optical terminology, lensometry, and visual field testing
  • Ability to operate ophthalmic instruments such as autorefractors and tonometers
  • Strong manual dexterity for handling small optical components
  • Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting prescription and fit issues
  • Cultural competence and empathy in patient interactions

Schedule
