About the role
This is a temporary assignment (6 months) with potential for extension. Fully onsite at Parnassus location.
Responsibilities
- Assist with financial analysis to support decision making
- Execute work accurately and independently

- Identify issues and solve problems
- Apply knowledge and/or training to Departmental and University policies and regulations
- Prepare financial reports including regular budget status reports, reviews award letters for budgetary compliance, and ensure appropriate charging of expenses to sponsored funds
- Serve as liaison between the Department and vendors, BearBuy (supplies and services), MyExpense, and A/P (analyze and resolve accounts payable issues)
- Coordinate funding changes and assist with preparing payroll expense transfers, assist Manager with close out of funds, and file financial status reports electronically
- Affordability account reconciliation, transfers, and closeout, and make deposits to appropriate sources
- Assist with non-sponsored accounts including opportunity funds, state general fund, education funds, pro fees, and private gifts and prepare timely financial reports
- Maintain internal controls and audit procedures appropriate to specific fund sources and purposes
- Review and approve purchase order requests and vendor payment requests that are prepared by the Purchasing Assistant
- Prepare monthly budget status reports (BSRs) and collect proof of receipt on a monthly basis
- Prepare academic and staff fund worksheets for Financial Analyst 3
- Affordance preparation of corrective Cost transfer, budget appropriations, and payroll expense transfers as directed by Finance Manager
- Affordance of fund close out and review of financial status reports
- Handle case deposits to ATM and assist in preparation of journal entries
- Request central Accounting to establish/set up new accounts
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems
- Demonstrated ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments
- Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely
- Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment
- Minimum 1 year of related experience
