Financial Aid Specialist (HEOa)

About the role

The Lehman College ACE (Accelerate-Complete-Engage) program helps students complete their bachelor’s degree within two years (transfer) or four years (freshmen) by providing financial, academic, and personal support, including intensive academic advisement, career counseling, tuition, textbook, and transportation assistance. The ACE Financial Aid Specialist administers the financial aid process from beginning to end for all ACE students, reporting to the Director of ACE and the Director of Financial Aid.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person and virtual financial aid counseling to ACE students and parents on federal, state, and institutional aid processes.
• Schedule workshops, review applications, establish pay cycles, disburse funds, resolve disbursement problems, and record awards, disbursements, and returns.
• Train program staff on interpreting and using financial aid data, queries, and reports.
• Serve as the direct resource for program staff on all financial aid‑related issues, handling escalated matters and providing timely responses, updates, analyses, and reports.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve packaging, financial aid awards, and tuition‑and‑fee gap scholarships by verifying student eligibility and reviewing disbursements.
• Use query tools and software such as Microsoft Excel and CUNYfirst to report and analyze financial
