About the Role

This is one of eight full-time positions on a team that administers all student financial aid programs for the College. The Financial Aid Office (FAO) helps students access appropriate financial aid to achieve their educational goals while supporting the College’s enrollment objectives. All FAO staff assist students and parents with financial aid applications, may focus on specific areas of responsibility, and may take on special projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality customer service to students visiting the FAO.
  • Verify and package Title IV funding.
  • Contribute as a team member to the success of the FAO.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and family information.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of student records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • One to three years of financial aid experience or equivalent (e.g., finance, mortgage, retail management).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations, and recommend process improvements.
  • Ability to perform calculations using basic algebraic concepts.

Qualifications

  • Experience administering Title IV funds.
  • Proficiency with Excel, including report creation.
  • Audit and/or analytical work paper preparation experience.
  • Experience with income tax preparation and understanding of the tax code.
  • Completion of NASFAA University credentials.
  • Experience with account collections.
  • Colleague software experience.
  • Prior financial aid experience in a community college environment.
  • Prior default management experience.

Working Conditions

  • Must remain in a stationary position to process files.
  • Occasional movement within the office.
  • Constant computer operation.
  • Frequent conversation with students and families regarding financial aid.
  • Frequent carrying of items up to 10 pounds; occasional carrying of items up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires close vision and ability to adjust focus while processing hard-copy and digital aid forms.
  • Able to concentrate amid distractions and noise.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week/52 weeks per year. The position requires flexibility to work some evening hours and occasional weekends to meet operational needs.
