Financial Aid Counselor

About the role

Meet and communicate with current, prospective and alumni students to guide them through the financial aid process. Report directly to the Director of Financial Aid.

Responsibilities

• Process awards for state and federal aid according to regulations and policy
• Counsels students and parents
• Provides estimates and packaging information
• Calculates return of Title IV funds
• Manages defaults and financial literacy programs
• Audits and runs reports to ensure work integrity
• Interacts with other departments to assist students
• Maintains up-to-date information on new federal regulations
• Assists with private loans packaging and VA benefits

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• 2+ years of Financial Aid experience
• Campus VUE experience preferred
• Computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, is recommended
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills
• Attention to detail with the capability to multi-task
