About the role
The Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the ProVise Management Group team. This position connects clients, support team, and advisors, ensuring smooth financial operations and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage company financial data and transactions
- Record and document financial activity in accounting systems
- Handle billing, accounts receivable (AR), and accounts payable (AP)
- Identify and correct accounting discrepancies
- Collaborate with senior leadership to prepare financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets, and general ledgers
- Generate invoices for financial planning as needed
- Oversee and streamline bookkeeping processes
- Track budget performance and evaluate expenses
- Reconcile incoming and outgoing financial accounts
- Support operational tasks such as filing property taxes, managing computer inventory, and processing commission payments
- Support the Compliance program
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and listening)
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite)
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Skilled in communicating complex financial data clearly
- Solid understanding of financial transactions, including AP and AR
Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of Broker Dealer and Investment Advisory Regulations (a plus)
- Demonstrates personal integrity, honesty, and ability to handle confidential information
- Excellent time management and strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and anticipate potential problems
