About the role
Our client, located just north of Charlotte, is seeking an Accounting and Finance Manager to oversee accounting operations, ensure financial compliance, and serve as a strategic financial partner to company leadership.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other core accounting activities.
- Manage payroll processes and maintain accurate employee compensation records within the payroll system.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting accuracy.
- Partner with external CPAs and tax advisors to coordinate timely and accurate preparation of federal, state, and local tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations, internal controls, and company policies.
- Serve as the primary contact for external financial, insurance, and compliance audits.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow reports.
- Perform budget-to-actual analysis, identify trends, and provide insights into business performance and financial health.
- Develop and communicate key financial metrics to support informed decision-making by company leadership.
- Act as a strategic financial partner and trusted advisor to the CEO/Owner, providing data-driven recommendations to improve profitability, optimize costs, support fair compensation decisions, and identify opportunities for business growth.
- Translate financial data into actionable insights that help guide operational and strategic decisions.
- Lead 2-3 direct reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of progressive experience blending accounting and FP&A in a small-to-medium size business.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- High attention to detail for accounting tasks combined with big-picture strategic thinking for finance.
