Finance Transformation Intern - Summer 2027

Responsibilities

• Contribute to business process analysis, requirements definition efforts for remediating gaps, cost and cycle time analysis/remediation, and the communication and change management required to ensure the success of our clients.
• Collaborate with our Finance Transformation colleagues to help clients transform their finance and operations functions, both process-related and reporting, as well as design and implement sustainable models that streamline operations, and comply with business needs.
• Avoid just control points and focus on Finance Process Optimization changes that achieve necessary business transformation.
• Your day-to-day may include:
• Assess client finance operations and processes to identify transformation opportunities aligned with strategic business objectives.
• Support project teams in helping clients work toward their long-term business goals and strategic priorities.
• Assist with analyzing client challenges and contribute to the development of effective solutions.
• Participate in client meetings and support day-to-day project activities and client communications.
• Collaborate with Grant Thornton team members to help identify and address client questions, issues, and needs.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with team members and clients while contributing to high-quality client service.
• Effectively manage assigned responsibilities and project deliverables while meeting internship expectations.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics, Information Systems, or related fields.
• Minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Demonstrated digital fluency through the effective use of technology, data, and basic AI technologies to enhance productivity and decision-making.
• Experience in data analysis, including the ability to interpret complex financial datasets, identify trends, and generate actionable insights to support decision-making.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to perform quantitative analysis and develop business cases.
• Basic understanding of Close-the-books, Chart-of-Accounts, Treasury, Financial Planning and Analysis & Financial Benchmarking.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, facilitation and presentation skills.
• Positive mindset for learning new concepts.
• The willingness and ability to work additional hours, as needed.
• The ability to work efficiently and effectively in a team environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Pay

The pay rate for this position in the firm’s Chicago, IL office is $37 per hour.

Schedule

This role requires in-person attendance at least three days per week, either at a GT office or client site.
