Finance Solutions Consultant I/II/III
About the role
The Finance Data Management Team supports the Finance division in several key areas: management of the Workday Foundation Data Model and Workday Finance Business Processes, administration and development of Workday Accounting Center, administration of Workday Adaptive Planning, maintenance of Workday Finance configurations, and data management in support of reporting, integrations, audits, and compliance.
This role provides maintenance and administration of finance-specific applications, data, and business processes that support the entire Finance division. A Financial Data Consultant collaborates cross-functionally to ensure the quality and timeliness of financial transactions, reporting, and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Participates in administration and configuration across all finance technologies supported by the Finance Data Management team, including Workday Accounting Center, Prism solutions, Workday Adaptive Planning, and Workday Financials.
- Supports and tests the configuration and deployment of new projects and enhancements for supported functions, the Workday Foundation Data Model, financial reporting, and finance-related business processes.
- Combines business and technology knowledge to redesign and optimize processes, translating business requirements into technology solutions.
- Acts as a consultant to the Finance division to leverage technology investments, improving process quality and timeliness of financial accounting, reporting, and analysis.
- Maintains accounting translation tables/rules to support new products, business needs, and regulatory requirements.
- Identifies data issues and recommends mitigation solutions.
- Responsible for small-to-medium feature and code development; analyzes, researches, and resolves system issues.
- Stays informed about changes to policies and processes that impact end-user workflows, business operations, and system functionality.
- Develops and enhances financial reports, including those using Office Connect.
- Maintains proficiency in system features, functionality, and related skills necessary to manage Finance data, applications, and business processes.
- Demonstrates high standards of integrity, supporting the company’s mission, values, and code of conduct.
- Maintains member privacy in accordance with corporate policies.
- Performs other functions as assigned by management.
Level II Responsibilities (in addition to Level I)
- Identifies and implements improvements using technology and new features to automate processes, enhancing accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of financial transactions, reporting, and analysis.
- Develops technical expertise in the Workday reporting and analytics framework to support financial reporting.
- Gathers business requirements, provides conceptual designs, manages Workday configurations, tests, and supports solution rollouts.
- Responsible for complex solution development, system design, and development with broad impacts across Finance applications and systems.
- Develops strategies to mitigate risk and translates them into actionable plans.
- Acts as a Subject Matter Expert in technology and/or business disciplines.
- Provides leadership in assessing technology and data impacts from strategic projects, compliance mandates, and business growth initiatives.
- Provides direction on technical requirements for interface development.
- Acts as a backup for similar Workday functional roles in other administrative divisions (e.g., HR, Supply Chain).
Level III Responsibilities (in addition to Level II)
- Acts as a domain expert in one or more supported functions/applications: Workday Accounting Center, Workday Adaptive Planning, Workday Foundational Data Model, and/or Workday Financials.
- Analyzes complex source system data to enable the establishment of accounting rules, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial statements.
- Identifies inefficient technical or business processes and recommends improvements through strategic or standardized technologies.
- Provides advanced thought leadership in disciplines such as Business, Integration, Data, Technology, or Process Improvement.
- Researches and identifies areas of innovation to advance Finance’s technical and business capabilities through technology or process improvements.
- Mentors team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application and/or Budgeting platform; Workday and Adaptive Planning strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of finance and accounting principles, with specialized skills in maintaining and administering finance-specific applications.
- Strong data analytical skills, with experience in Finance and Healthcare preferred.
- Knowledge of process improvement principles.
- Experience with MS Excel, data analysis, and formatting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications by Level
- Level I: Four (4) years of direct experience with finance systems and accounting.
- Level II (in addition to Level I): Six (6) years of direct experience with finance systems and accounting. Demonstrated competence with Workday or Adaptive Planning. Experience with conditional data formatting/retrieval concepts. Familiarity with Procure-to-Pay and Quote-to-Cash business workflows preferred.
- Level III (in addition to Level II): Eight (8) years of direct experience with finance systems and accounting. Demonstrated competence with Insurance Payor terminology and financial concepts. Experience in team leadership, facilitation, and project leadership. Experience with SQL, VBA, or other programming languages preferred. Experience with Microsoft Excel Power Automate preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation, viewing a computer, and using a keyboard, mouse, and/or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time.
- Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or trainings as needed.
Pay
Compensation ranges:
- Level I: $71,880 – $129,384
- Level II: $79,068 – $142,322
- Level III: $87,766 – $157,978
Actual salary will vary based on factors such as budget, experience, knowledge, skills, education, and internal equity. The salary range reflects only one component of the total rewards package, which may also include health/dental insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, paid time off, and paid holidays.
