Finance Product Owner-Velocity Claim Payment Operations- Remote AZ

This remote work opportunity requires residency, and work to be performed, within the State of Arizona.

About the role

This leader will work with key business, vendors, and IT partners to develop strategic plans for the technologies impacting the company. Works to deliver features defined for providing methodology, process policies, practices, guidance, and tools to the organization.

Our positions are classified as hybrid, onsite, or remote under our Workability hybrid workforce strategy. The following classifications drive current minimum onsite requirements:

  • Hybrid People Leaders: must reside in AZ, required to be onsite at least twice per week
  • Hybrid Individual Contributors: must reside in AZ (unless otherwise cited), required to be onsite at least once per week
  • Hybrid 2 (Operational Roles): must reside in AZ (unless otherwise cited), required to be onsite at least once per month
  • Onsite: daily onsite requirement based on essential job functions
  • Remote: not held to onsite requirements, though leadership may request presence for business reasons such as staff meetings, one-on-ones, training, and team building

Onsite requirements may change based on business need and job responsibilities. Most employees should expect onsite requirements at a minimum of once per week.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate projects to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters.
  • Accountable for the product backlog and prioritization of user stories with team members.
  • Create business user stories and decompose features into user stories (non-technical).
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer and product needs.
  • Serve as the recognized voice of the business to the team.
  • Work closely with project managers to represent capabilities and features at the team level.
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, features, and user stories.
  • Review test cases against user story acceptance criteria.
  • Periodically re-prioritize the Product Backlog based on customer feedback, market changes, and business priority.
  • Actively participate in Product Backlog grooming sessions, retrospectives, defect management, and project team’s release planning sessions.
  • Be accessible to the team to answer questions during Sprint planning sessions and Daily Scrum.
  • Own the continual acceptance criteria for business value story user stories.
  • Create and deliver presentations.
  • Participate in corporate quality and data governance programs.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Level 2 additional responsibilities:

  • Lead, instruct, direct, and check the work of other team members.
  • Provide input for team member performance reviews.
  • Formally accept user stories once all acceptance criteria are met.
  • Assist management in project support and project resource planning.
  • Facilitate and/or create new procedures and processes that support advancing technologies or capabilities.
  • Evaluate high-level project information and assess project components to forecast work effort required.
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements between departments and operational or technical areas are met.
  • Provide peer-level review and mentoring to Level 1 employees.
  • Mentor team members and peers, including building lesson plans and delivering lessons.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Work Experience:
    • 3 years of experience in healthcare, insurance, or finance with emphasis on Business Analysis and/or computer technology including EDI, financial systems, or system interfaces.
    • 2 years of experience in a role demonstrating ability to communicate with diverse groups inside and outside the business.
    • 3 years of experience decomposing high-level initiative information and evaluating components to forecast work effort.
    • 2 years of experience with multiple LOB claims processing and payments; overpayment recoveries.
  • Education: High-School Diploma or GED in general field of study.
  • Certifications: Achievement of Agile Product Owner certification within 12 months of placement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work Experience:
    • 5 years of experience in healthcare, insurance, or finance with emphasis on Business Analysis and/or computer technology including EDI, financial systems, or system interfaces.
    • 4 years of experience in a role demonstrating ability to communicate with diverse groups inside and outside the business.
    • 3 years of experience working with Agile/Scrum environments as a product owner, writing user stories, and following development through user story acceptance.
    • 2 years of experience with payments and back-end payment infrastructure (Credit, Debit, ACH).
    • Knowledge of BCBS Association Federal Employee Program (FEP), BlueCard programs, and claims processes.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
  • Certifications: Agile Product Owner Certification.

Skills

  • Intermediate PC proficiency, including Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Intermediate proficiency in spreadsheet, database, project management, and word processing software.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with business requirements development, user acceptance testing, and supporting toolsets.

  • Strong understanding of file handling and data translation.
  • Strong understanding of project management and Agile best practices, and quality improvement principles.

Schedule

This is a full-time position defined as working at least 40 hours per week, plus any additional hours as requested or needed to meet business requirements.
