Finance Plant Controller, Solar Module

About the role

The Plant Controller is a key member of the plant management staff, collaborating and providing financial analysis to support plant and business objectives. This role leads the finance function, serves as a key decision-maker, and drives process improvements within the finance team.

Responsibilities

• Close the financial books monthly, analyze actual results, support and review period financial reports and ledgers, and publish plant period reports.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting activities, including fixed asset management, inventory valuation, product costing, period reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and overall asset and liability control.
• Proactively identify cost problems, drive root-cause analysis, and lead problem resolution and development of effective solutions.
• Document existing processes (SOPs) and seek improvement opportunities to reduce complexity.
• Lead system (SAP) integration projects and all corporate system initiatives, ensuring support of Solar Module divisional requirements and Corning Finance functions.
• Prepare annual budget and business forecasts, and analyze and seek approval for capital investments with return metrics (ROI, IRR & Payback).
• Maintain internal control systems and ensure compliance with local regulations, Sarbanes Oxley requirements, US GAAP, and Corporate Accounting Policies.
• Participate as a leader in setting and managing the direction of the plant, and support tax and insurance filings.
• Source, select, and develop talent to support global and entity Finance talent needs.
• Take on various ad-hoc responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or equivalent technical degree required.
• 10+ years of manufacturing or relevant experience required; cost accountant experience preferred.
• Strong computer skills: proficiency in Excel/PowerPoint, general ledger systems, and forecasting tools.
• Experience with PeopleSoft, SAP, Khalix, and Performance Excellence knowledge (Six Sigma, lean processes) preferred.
• MBA/CPA preferred.

Pay

The range for this position is $134,486.00 - $184,919.00 assuming full-time status. Starting pay depends on geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
