Location: Charlottesville, VA (On-site) Job Type: Direct Hire Starting Salary: From $120,000 to $140,000 annually (Depending on Experience) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced finance professional to oversee accounting and financial operations for a growing organization. This leadership role combines strategic financial planning with hands-on involvement in daily accounting functions. The ideal candidate has a strong background in financial management, process improvement, compliance, and leading high-performing teams. Key Responsibilities Direct all accounting and finance operationsManage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closePrepare financial statements, executive reports, and other financial analysesOversee cash flow, treasury activities, banking relationships, and cash flow forecastingDevelop and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, and business performance reportingMaintain strong internal controls and improve accounting procedures and reporting processesIdentify financial risks and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and accuracyCoordinate financial audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance requirementsCreate financial models, dashboards, KPIs, and executive-level reporting toolsPartner with company leadership to support business planning and financial decision-makingLead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team while promoting accountability and continuous improvement Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience5+ years of leadership experience managing accounting or finance teamsStrong experience with:Financial reportingMonth-end and year-end closeBudgeting and forecastingCash flow managementInternal controlsFinancial analysis Experience improving accounting processes and implementing effective financial controlsWorking knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting practicesExperience managing audits, tax compliance, and banking relationshipsStrong analytical, communication, organizational, and leadership skillsAbility to work on-site in Charlottesville, VA Preferred CPA, CMA, or other professional accounting certificationMaster's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business AdministrationExperience using CargoWise, QuickBooks, or similar accounting softwareExperience with treasury management, working capital, and executive financial reporting Ideal Candidate We're looking for a finance leader who: Demonstrates integrity and strong business judgmentEnjoys balancing strategic planning with hands-on financial managementCan improve systems, streamline processes, and strengthen financial controlsBuilds collaborative relationships across departmentsThrives in a fast-paced environment and leads teams with accountability and professionalism Benefits Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, retirement plans, and additional company-sponsored benefits.
