Finance Manager, Transportation Support
About the role
Amazon is seeking a Finance Manager to help lead and oversee critical functions for Amazon Logistics – our rapidly expanding internal delivery operation, purpose-built to achieve and exceed the delivery quality and speed demands of Amazon customers. This role will be the finance leader for disruptive new transportation initiatives, with a focus on business partnering, strategic decision support, financial controllership, and cost reduction.
Leading a team of analysts, you will partner with multiple stakeholders to provide timely analysis, insightful guidance, and financial leadership to this high-growth organization. This role requires extensive cross-functional partnership with various retail, transportation, and finance teams to identify best practices across the network and lead cost improvement efforts.
Responsibilities
- Develop strategic relationships with business partners, influence decisions, and root cause issues quickly using data to uncover core problems and teach the business how decisions affect costs.
- Manage, develop, and encourage your team to challenge assumptions while fostering a "learn by doing" environment by engaging with on-the-floor associates and managers.
- Collect, analyze, and manage quantitative data to create meaningful analyses that drive business improvement and cost reductions.
- Recommend, develop, and implement policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability.
- Lead weekly and monthly financial close activities, planning, forecasting, and reporting models while overseeing their continuous innovation and communication.
- Drive long-term strategic planning, annual planning, variance analysis for monthly/quarterly business reviews, and ad-hoc projects as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science).
- 5+ years of experience building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, determining root causes, and creating/implementing escalation plans.
- 6+ years of experience solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that impact business outcomes (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits).
- MBA or CPA.
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL.
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and data interpretation of results.
Pay
- USA, TN, Nashville: $85,900.00 - $146,900.00 USD annually
- USA, TX, Irving: $95,400.00 - $163,200.00 USD annually
- USA, WA, Bellevue: $95,400.00 - $163,200.00 USD annually
