Finance Manager - R&D
About the role
The Finance Manager Corporate Staff Services - R&D position at 3M provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. This role focuses on financial planning, analysis, and governance for New Product Introductions (NPI), serving as a key business partner to R&D and product teams.
Responsibilities
Partner with R&D and product teams to develop financial plans for new product initiatives.
Owe financial metrics associated with new product introductions.
Create analytics for decision-making on new product introduction processes and generate improvements.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for R&D and NPI programs.
Build and manage financial models, including business cases, ROI, and NPV.
Support stage-gate reviews with clear financial recommendations at key decision points.
Track and analyze project spend vs. budget, identify risks and opportunities.
Drive process improvements in financial planning, reporting, and investment governance.
Approve capital investments impacting R&D.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, or Economics (completed and verified prior to start).
Nine (9) years of FP&A or corporate finance experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
Experience supporting R&D, product development, or engineering teams.
Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
Advanced Excel skills; experience with planning tools.
MBA, CPA, or CFA a plus.
