Your internship is designed to provide you with the skills and professional experience to take with you well beyond the classroom.

About the role

This is a hybrid position located in Houston. Candidates must be local to the Greater Houston area. Relocation is not available.

During the 10-week program, you will be involved in more than the day-to-day operations of the company. The Internal Audit department encompasses SOX compliance, operational auditing, investigations, and data analytics groups. The team supports audit testing, documentation, evidence collection, and process improvement across the organization.

  • Work with and be mentored by experienced professionals, receiving valuable performance feedback.
  • Participate in planned social activities to network with leading industry professionals.
  • Gain a variety of learning experiences through training, development, and mentorship while completing a meaningful project to support and drive the business.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in relevant projects and challenges in a dynamic environment.
  • Develop knowledge, skills, and expertise needed for professional growth.
  • Understand the Sysco approach, methodology, and tools.
  • Identify business issues and provide solutions via research.
  • Establish working relationships with client personnel.
  • Analyze complex issues, reason, think critically, and synthesize information.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at various levels.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with concentrations in Accounting, Finance, Audit, Data Analytics, or a related business field.
  • Strong academic credentials (Minimum GPA of 3.0).
  • Currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without future employment sponsorship.

Physical Demands

The work requires the following physical activities: sitting, finger dexterity for data entry, speaking, hearing, visual acuity, and mobility between departments. Work may require bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and crouching; extensive telephone work.

  • Ability to receive detailed information through both verbal and written communication.
  • Able to express or exchange ideas utilizing the spoken word.
  • Can lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of both hands is required.

Working Conditions

The work is performed primarily indoors with a moderate noise level in the work environment.
