Finance Director

Full-Time (40 hrs/wk), FLSA-Exempt position with the City of Bowling Green.

About the role

The Finance Director is responsible for direct supervision of the Finance Department and Income Tax Division and serves as the Chief Financial Officer of City operations. The role involves directing and controlling all financial and treasury affairs of the City, including managing revenues, expenditures, investments, accounting, budget, debt, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Reports on financial matters
• Certifies availability of funds
• Prepares the City’s budgets
• Monitors City payroll
• Monitors City investments
• Represents the City on the Property and Liability Insurance Public Entity Pool and serves as one of the City’s representatives on the health insurance pool
• Countersigns all debt issuances
• Negotiates financial and union contracts

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant field
• Extensive accounting/financial management experience required
• Considerable accounting/financial management experience in the public sector preferred
• Considerable supervisory experience preferred

Pay

The salary range is $112,787 to $157,902 in Pay Band 12 of the City Wage Ordinance.
