Purpose

The purpose of this position is to deliver forward-looking financial and business partnerships to shape portfolio and investment decisions across R&D. The role challenges assumptions, influences direction, and drives actions that enhance portfolio value, capital efficiency, and performance outcomes.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for clinical development programs (Phase I–III and post-market).

  • Maintain accurate project-level financial models (trial costs, timelines, resource assumptions).

  • Update forecasts based on trial progress, enrolment changes, and protocol amendments.

  • Participate in and/or lead special projects, including finance system enhancements, process improvements, and reporting updates.

  • Provide decision support on trial design changes, portfolio prioritization, and other strategic matters.

  • Translate complex financial data into clear strategic insights that influence executive decision-making.

  • Monitor actual vs. budget/forecast at the study and program level, identifying and explaining key variances.

  • Support accrual and month-end processes for assigned assets.

  • Identify and quantify strategic risks and opportunities related to clinical delays, cost overruns, and resource constraints.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Finance / Accounting / Economics

  • Strong working knowledge of accounting and internal control standards

  • Experience with ERP systems, planning tools, and Excel

  • Effective communication and presentation skills to management

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment

  • Preferred MBA and/or CPA/CIMA and/or equivalent certifications (or qualified by experience)

Preferred

  • Experience working within a pharmaceutical technology or development area

Salary Range

$125,090 - $178,700 (Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, and organizational equity considerations.)
