About the role

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company dedicated to transforming military capabilities with advanced technology. The Finance Associate, Engineering will play a crucial role in developing and producing cost estimations for new products, translating engineering problems into financial measures, and working across various functions to improve processes and build financial models.

Responsibilities

  • You will own projects end-to-end, from Definition, Solution, to Implementation. You will tackle ambiguous, messy problems with little prescription on how to solve them.
  • Execute scrappy analyses on short timelines to get answers quickly, while also owning more scalable solutions that will benefit Anduril in the long term.
  • Project manage across many stakeholders, leading meetings and managing Slack channels to align teams towards solutions.
  • Work across functions and learn Anduril’s business top-to-bottom, interacting with Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and more.
  • Own detailed should cost models end-to-end, from on-the-ground data collection to presenting results to stakeholders.
  • Build parametric cost models for a variety of products, breaking them down into first principles including capability and physics.
  • Tie entire product life cycle costs together to forecast product business case viability, opportunities, and risks.
  • Create novel frameworks for establishing a strong “value engineering” muscle.
  • Establish transparency into material cost for existing and future Anduril products.
  • Build financial models that help set material cost targets for different products.
  • Work with the Engineering and Supply Chain teams to develop and implement cost reduction roadmaps.
  • Help executives think through tradeoffs in product features vs. costs vs. profitability.
  • "Red-Team" engineering plans from a financial / business perspective.

Requirements

  • You have minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing finance, engineering finance, or value engineering role at a high growth hardware company.
  • You have a strong understanding of financial and accounting concepts.
  • You have strong analytical aptitude. You intuitively think about problems in terms of numbers.
  • You are able to quickly execute analyses in Excel.
  • You have an ability to quantify complex often ambiguous problems.
  • You are willing to learn how to use corporate systems (e.g. Salesforce, Coupa, Anaplan) and analytic / dashboarding tools (e.g. Palantir Foundry).
  • You are comfortable communicating broadly and having a lot of eyes on your work. This role can at-times require comms to large groups and senior leadership.
  • You enjoy working at a place where no one minds if you leave early one day to go to an appointment or run an errand, but you also don’t mind responding to Slacks in the evening while you’re watching Netflix.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of engineering design within one or more of the following: aerospace, software, maritime, or electronics.
  • Understanding of configuration management principles and how to structure Bill of Materials.
  • Familiarity with defense standards such as MIL-STD-881 and DOD MRA Frameworks.
