Client: Mission-driven New Jersey nonprofit foundationTitle: Finance AssociateSalary: $30-$35/hourLocation: Newark, NJ | Hybrid, 3 days onsiteDuration: Temp to Hire Job Description:A small, mission-driven nonprofit foundation is seeking a Finance Associate to join its lean accounting team.This is a hands-on accounting role with a strong focus on Accounts Payable, transaction processing, reconciliations, and finance systems. The organization is looking for someone with a solid accounting foundation who can work independently, learn new systems quickly, and contribute effectively within a very small office environment.Nonprofit experience is helpful but not required. The priority is finding someone with meaningful accounting experience who can hit the ground running. Responsibilities Support day-to-day accounting and finance operations.Process Accounts Payable transactions and maintain accurate supporting documentation.Assist with vendor payments, invoice review, and account activity.Perform reconciliations and help resolve transaction discrepancies.Support general accounting, reporting, and month-end activities.Maintain accurate financial records and assist with data organization.Work with the Grants Manager and Controller on finance-related projects and reporting.Assist with audit preparation and supporting schedules as needed.Help improve and maintain finance processes within a small-team environment.Use Excel and accounting systems to review, organize, and analyze financial data. Qualifications 3-5 years of hands-on accounting experience.Strong Accounts Payable experience.Solid accounting foundation across transactions, reconciliations, and financial systems.Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables.Experience in a nonprofit environment required.QuickBooks experience is helpful.Sage Intacct and Bill.com experience are strong pluses.Audit support experience is a plus.
