Finance Associate
About the Role
This role represents an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance lawyer with a strong structured finance background and an understanding of CLOs/structured finance, international capital markets, corporate finance and secured lending to join our market-leading and growing team in the Cayman Islands. The team is highly collegiate and associates will enjoy unrivalled exposure to quality transactions. The team works on a range of matters for top-tier clients and collaborates with other teams, business lines and practice groups in Maples globally to provide a premium service to our clients while supporting the associates in the team.
The successful candidate may be required to advise on a wide variety of finance matters such as:
- CLOs and other structured finance transactions and securitisations
- Bespoke fund finance and structured finance hybrid work, such as CFOs and rated note feeders
- Fund finance
- Corporate debt and other debt finance
- Refinancings
- Repackagings
- Derivatives
- Capital markets debt issuance transactions
- Security packages and general secured lending
- Aircraft finance structures
Experience
The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, a strong work ethic and a commitment to building a legal career with a focus on structured finance. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to establish and build relationships with clients, instructing counsel and colleagues and work well within a team environment.
The candidate's qualifications and experience will also include:
- 8 - 10 years' post qualification experience
- Extensive CLO/structured finance experience gained within a recognised leading law firm in a major offshore jurisdiction
- A strong academic background, with excellent written communication and drafting skills
- Experience in establishing, developing and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as a primary point of contact for key clients
- Proven ability to identify, develop and implement business development opportunities and formulate successful strategies to optimise business growth
- Proactive contribution to thought leadership initiatives, client events, seminars and podcasts
- Track record of conference attendance and marketing activities in the relevant practice area and industry
- Excellent technical knowledge and a strong commercial awareness
