Finance and Accounting Analyst - Entry Level (Maryland)
As a member of the Audit, Accounting and Financial Services organization, you will play a critical role in protecting our nation’s security by ensuring accurate financial reporting for an agency comparable in size and budget to Fortune 100 companies.
Responsibilities
- Process financial transactions, including computing entitlements such as pay, travel, and contractor invoices.
- Prepare vouchers to authorize payment.
- Issue checks or Electronic Funds Transfer payments.
- Post certified execution documents to the NSA Finance and Accounting system.
- Analyze financial transactions.
- Certify availability and accountability of funds as well as entitlement for payment of claims and invoices.
- Prepare and certify periodic reports on the status of appropriated funds.
- Apply concepts and processes related to a finance-related transactional area (e.g., accounts payable, accounts receivable, disbursements, reviewing and certifying funds, payroll, travel).
- Independently initiate, monitor, and complete tasks.
- Work with customers to clarify their needs and determine how those needs can be met.
- Provide timely and accurate responses to requests for assistance, information, products, or services.
- Resolve customer concerns, problems, and complaints and provide timely feedback to customers on resolution.
- Utilize spreadsheet and relational database software, such as Microsoft Excel and Access.
Qualifications
The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position.
- Degree: Must be in Business or a related field (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Business Administration).
- Relevant Experience: Must be in financial management (e.g., accounts payable, accounts receivable, disbursements, reviewing and certifying funds, payroll, travel accounting).
- Entry/Developmental Level:
- High school diploma or GED plus 4 years of relevant experience, or
- Associate’s degree plus 2 years of relevant experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree and no experience.
Strong preference given to applicants with a major in Finance or Accounting.

Pay
Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position, as well as information provided by the hiring manager regarding the work level for the position.
- Salary Range: $57,736 - $91,815 (Entry/Developmental).
- Salary range varies by location, work level, and relevant experience.
Training will be provided based on the selectee's needs and experience.

Schedule
This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, with a basic 8-hour/day work requirement between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (flexible).
If selected, you will be required to serve a two-year DCIPS trial period (one year for veterans' preference-eligible employees). Continued employment beyond the trial period is contingent upon certification that your employment advances the public interest.
