Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Affords assistance in the preparation and dissemination of the Town-wide departmental budget instructions and forms.
- Provides budget preparation assistance to Town departments and collects and compiles all annual Town budgets for review.
- Conducts requested financial analyses in support of the Town’s financial plans and ongoing operations.
- Develops executive financial reporting and prepares revenue and payroll reporting using financial software.
- Performs financial analysis and research, prepares reports, and makes recommendations based on findings.
- Assists with the preparation of staff reports and resolutions for Town Council presentations.
- Analyzes and projects the Town’s cash flow needs and determines strategies to maintain sufficient bank funds.
- Coordinates and oversees the Town’s daily banking activities, including the receipt and recording of payments and allocation of charges.
- Identifies discrepancies, reconciles, and prepares adjustments on financial reports and documents.
- Develops, implements, and monitors internal control processes and procedures.
- Performs Accounts Payable (AP) duties such as invoice entry, requisitions, purchase orders, and bi-weekly processing.
- Assists other departments with AP-related questions and training.
Minimum & Preferred Qualifications
- Required Licenses or Certifications: State of Arizona Driver's license; knowledge of Town organization, operations, policies, and procedures; general accounting standards, policies, procedures, and regulations; public sector accounting and budgeting principles and methods; applicable state and federal rules, codes, and regulations; record keeping and file maintenance principles and procedures; general ledger reconciliation procedures; business and personal computers, and spreadsheet software applications; data collection, performance measurement, and outcome reporting; Microsoft Office applications and standard office technology; maintaining interrelated financial and technical records; identifying and reconciling errors; using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines; analyzing and interpreting financial documents; correcting and updating financial information systems; performing mathematical calculations with skill and accuracy; establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships; assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent; two years’ accounting, finance, or budgeting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An Associates degree in Accounting is preferred.
