About the role
The Finance Analyst position supports the financial activities of Aspen Peaks School District. Key responsibilities include advising on funding alternatives, analyzing financial information, preparing budgets, and collaborating with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Advises administrative staff, school officials, and board members on the implications of funding alternatives, proposed program adjustments, and revenue options.
- Analyzes school and District financial information to identify budget variances and recommend appropriate actions.
- Aids staff and administration with technical budgeting issues and prepares required information for budget development.
- Collaborates with program administrators in developing budgets and provides budgetary information to administration, board members, and public organizations.
- Communicates state legislation information to staff and administrators and provides analytical information, reports, and recommendations.
- Compiles a wide variety of financial information and compiles special and regular financial reports.
- Generates program reimbursement requests for federal funds and ensures sufficient funding for program operations.
- Maintains a wide variety of financial files and ensures compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitors account balances and related financial activity and ensures compliance with established accounting practices.
- Provides technical expertise, support, and direction to staff and administration regarding accounting issues and financial activities.
- Reviews school processes and year-end activities to ensure accuracy of fund financial activity and prepare the ledger for the start of the next fiscal year.
- Maintains accounting and internal control policies and procedures to ensure staff are complying with established procedures and maintain accurate accounting records.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: Operating standard office equipment, performing accounting procedures, planning and managing projects, and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
- Knowledge: Principles of accounting and auditing, general governmental accounting practices, standard office practices and procedures, and pertinent codes, policies, regulations, and/or laws.
- Ability: Scheduling activities, meetings, and/or events; gathering, collating, and/or classifying data; using basic, job-related equipment; working with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; working with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; utilizing a variety of job-related equipment; analyzing a variety of financial and statistical information; working under time constraints; communicating with and conveying detailed information to diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; and working with detailed information.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and/or accounting.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, and financial software.

Pay
The starting salary range for this position is $74,420 - $117,640 depending on qualifications and experience.
