Responsibilities
- Prepare financial reporting for DOE and Battelle’s Pacific Northwest Division (PNWD).
- Develop reporting schedules and communicate monthly and year-end closing deadlines.
- Coordinate post-closing entries, translate financial data for STARS, perform validation checks, and upload monthly financial information into DOE’s STARS accounting system.
- Provide BSD’s senior management with quarterly account analysis, integrated contractor trial balance reconciliations, STARS to BV reconciliations, suspense reporting, and the corporate reporting package.
- Complete the 3rd and 4th quarter DOE reporting and generate the Schedule of Cost Incurred and Claimed (SCIC).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for financial questions from Oak Ridge Operation (ORO), the Pacific Northwest Site Office (PNSO), and Battelle corporate operations.
- Provide extensive audit support for DCAA, DOE, and internal audits, including writing management responses across BSD.
- Deploy financial reporting requirements, track Self-Assessment measures, and support A-123 through the development of internal controls to mitigate risks.
- Train BSD staff on the DOE STARS process to ensure understanding of the impact of Financial Processing System (FPS) entries on DOE STARS reporting.
- Respond to miscellaneous ad hoc reporting and reconciliation requests, and answer questions from core accounting groups on the DOE STARS process.
This position reports directly to the manager of Project and General Ledger. Success requires strong analytical skills, the ability to manage tight deadlines, effective communication, and a solid understanding of FPS and accounting feeder systems.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications:
- BS/BA and 5 years of relevant experience, OR
- MS/MA or higher and 3 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, MIS, or a related business field.
- Working knowledge of financial accounting and reporting systems, general accounting practices, and strong analytical, process development, and communication skills.
- High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Access and Excel.
- Ability to handle wide-ranging assignments requiring broad experience or independent action and initiative to resolve issues.
- Substantial understanding of the role and ability to apply knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.
- Skilled in using basic financial and accounting systems and software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay
Minimum Salary: USD $86,700.00/Yr.
Maximum Salary: USD $134,200.00/Yr.
