About the role

Environmental Solutions Group – Marathon Equipment is seeking a Finaler to join our Operations team in Vernon, AL. This position is part of the Operations department and reports to the Production Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and checks priority list from Final/Dock Supervisor for products to be assembled daily.
  • Locates and compiles parts necessary for compactor assemblies. Involves manually transporting parts up to 40 pounds and repetitive overhead work.
  • Assemble panel boxes for compactor products. Includes installing relays, timers, starters, transformers, conduits, electrical wiring in fittings.
  • Install power packs, panel boxes and hydraulic cylinders onto compactor products. Includes assembling electrical wiring and fittings.
  • Assembles wires for motors, solenoids, pressure and limit switches for compactors.
  • Operates welding equipment to attach braces, stands and actuators onto compactors. Visually observes welds and cutting of components for quality.
  • Prepares daily production tally sheets and submits to Final/Dock Supervisor.
  • Observes all safety regulations and reports any unsafe working conditions to Final/Dock Supervisor.
  • Cheks KanBan cards and parts daily. Notifies lead person or supervisor so parts can be ordered on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to use hand held programmer to program PLC’s for use in Final. Requires working knowledge of PLC’s and working with new design of boards and computers. Requires computer knowledge in order to be able to look up prints and schematics on AS-400 computer system.
  • Attendance at work, including presence at work during regular working hours or other schedule as may be assigned by the department manager, is essential. Acceptance of overtime assignments may also be required in order to meet departmental goals and objectives.
  • Assists with performing Cleaner’s duties, as necessary.
  • Have thorough knowledge of Power Pack Assembler job, and be able to serve as back up as needed.
  • Drives company vehicles to filed service locations and to vendor location to pick up parts.
  • Operates forklift for transporting parts to and from Final Department, as necessary.
  • Cuts and crimps hydraulic hoses for compactors.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area, equipment and tools.
  • Willingness to be trained (to learn) the assembly process, and to assist in running of Department in absence of Lead man or Supervisor.
  • Performs other various duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Requires a High School diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge: Requires ability to understand general arithmetic; ability to write in an understandable manner; understand verbal or written instructions; ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, billing materials, parts lists and hydraulic patterns; knowledge normally acquired through high school plus course study or equivalent experience.
  • Mental: Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate machinery and equipment.
  • Physical: Requires walking/standing approximately 80%, sitting approximately 20% and lifting up to 40 pounds approximately 30% of time; involves repetitive overhead work approximately 15% of time; involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 80% of time.
  • Manual Dexterity: Requires use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate welding equipment, hand grinder, hand drill, drill press, hand pallet jack, general hand tools and to record written information.
  • Audible Demands: Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to hear for safety purposes.
  • Visual: Requires the ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety; color perception necessary; depth perception required.
  • Environmental: Exposure to plant environments with the presence of dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.
