About the role
As a Final Mile Driver, you will pick up, transport, and deliver freight locally in a non CDL-A vehicle. The role does not involve handling hazardous materials.
Responsibilities
- Safely and timely transport freight from origin to destination.
- Load and unload shipments, either individually or with assistance, with or without mechanical freight handling equipment.
- Perform frequent lifting, pulling, and carrying of freight.
- Inspect vehicle for defects and safe operating condition before, during, and after trips; submit a written Vehicle Condition Report at the end of each trip.
- Check shipping papers to ensure hazardous materials are not present.
- Ensure all shipping documentation (e.g., manifest, security seal sheet, bills of lading, shipping orders, freight bills) is available for inspection and accompanies shipments upon delivery.
- Properly handle and complete all necessary paperwork related to vehicle operations and freight movements.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to pass a background check and alcohol and drug test.
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
- At least 6 months of driving experience, including experience with a personal motor vehicle.
- Willingness to enter Southeastern’s Driver Trainee Program after successfully completing one year in the Final Mile Driver role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with Pallet Jack, loading and unloading, Box Truck, Delivery Driver, or CDL B.
Pay
$31.35–$34.50 per hour (pay may vary based on location and experience).
