Filmmaker
About the role
PandaDoc’s Brand Studio is looking for a storyteller to be our first Filmmaker. We're building our video practice from scratch, and we want to do it right — leading with human stories around the customers, teams, and people behind the product. This role owns the full video production lifecycle end-to-end: concept, storyboard, shoot, edit, motion, and delivery. As a player-coach, you'll direct and operate cameras on location, edit footage, provide direction to post-production, and manage a motion designer. You'll also help build AI-powered tools and workflows that enable a small team to produce high-volume, high-quality video efficiently.
You'll collaborate closely with Brand Studio leads and Marketing stakeholders to translate briefs into compelling video content, whether on a location shoot in Austin or in After Effects refining a paid ad.
Responsibilities
- Own the full video production lifecycle: from brief intake and concept development through shoot execution and final delivery, including pre-production, production, and post.
- Direct and shoot on location: travel to on-site shoots, operate camera, set up lighting and audio, and direct internal spokespeople and external talent to capture authentic, on-brand content.
- Storyboard and concept video creative: translate campaign briefs and brand strategy into compelling shot lists, storyboards, and production plans.
- Build AI-powered production infrastructure: design and implement tools and workflows to scale video output without increasing headcount, including self-serve editing systems (e.g., Descript) and AI video tools (Runway, Sora, or similar).
- Edit and deliver polished, platform-ready content: cut long-form brand films, product videos, customer stories, social cut-downs, and paid ad variants to spec and on brand.
- Partner with our motion designer on post-production: provide direction on motion graphics, animations, and visual effects, including lower thirds, title cards, and transitions. Set quality standards and ensure tight collaboration.
- Manage the video production team: oversee the professional development of our motion designer. Source, brief, and manage freelance video editors and production agencies as needed, ensuring quality and brand consistency.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in video production with a portfolio demonstrating full ownership from concept to delivery.
- Proven camera operation skills and expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Expert-level proficiency with AI-assisted video tools (Runway, Sora, or similar).
- Solid motion design foundation: comfortable with lower thirds, title cards, and light visual effects; knows when to delegate complex animation to specialists.
- Experience managing at least one direct report or motion designer.
- Demonstrated ability to storyboard and concept original video creative.
- Experience producing across formats: brand campaigns, product launches, customer stories, paid social, and event content.
- Willingness to travel for shoots (estimated 15–20%).
About you
- You embody PandaDoc’s EPIC values: Excellence in every frame, Purpose in storytelling that drives business results, Innovation through exploring new tools and formats, and Collaboration across creative, marketing, and beyond.
- You’re a craftsperson first—you don’t just manage video production, you make it. Your portfolio reflects end-to-end ownership, not just credits.
- You have a strong post-production foundation and can work hands-on in After Effects when needed. You know what great motion looks like and can guide specialists to deliver it.
- You balance pre-production rigor with post-production polish—both are essential to your workflow.
- You bring a point of view on the future of B2B video, including AI-assisted tools, emerging formats, and what works in practice. You understand the difference between a brand film and a product demo and know which fits the brief.
- You give and receive creative feedback well, whether presenting a concept to stakeholders or taking direction from a brand designer.
- You’re a builder: you create systems, processes, and teams that continue producing great work even when you’re on the next shoot.
- You stay current on AI tools in production and leverage them to move faster without sacrificing craft.
